A Twist(er) in Our Plans!

Image
March 29-April 3, 2021 Our original plans for when we left Pensacola were to spend a week at Oak Mountain State Park in Alabama.     However, a couple of days prior to our Pensacola departure, we received a text from Oak Mountain State Park saying they had been hit by a tornado, had no electricity and a big “DO NOT COME” message!     Watching the nightly news, we learned Alabama had been hit by 17 tornados that day.     Our emotions were so confused.     One:  We were so concerned about the people of Alabama who had lost their lives, loved ones, homes, possessions…. Such a catastrophe!     Two:  We were thankful we had not been there at the time the tornadoes struck.     It seemed like a close call!     Three:  We’ve been making reservations several months in advance…     where are we going to go????     Our thought process was to avoid going north, where the tornadoes had been...

Petersons in Pensacola!

March 16-29, 2021 Our final stop in Florida brought us to Pensacola.  Dick's only sibling, Doug, and his wife, Rowena, live there.  Spending time with family was amazing!  Doug and Rowena completely spoiled us during our stay in Pensacola. We were treated to grilled delights such as fresh salmon steaks, Doug’s infamous BBQ ribs, shrimp stir fry, Rowena’s English Shepherd’s Pie and many other tasty delights!  Fortunately, they live in a neighborhood with many wonderful walks to help balance the scales!  Dining and walking became a familiar routine!  Doug also introduced us to “Salty Dogs” which is a delightfully refreshing beverage on a hot day.  I know spring just sprung, but in Florida spring days can feel like summer days to Midwesterners!    Frankie was in doggy heaven with a full house and YARD to run and play in when we were at their house.  I’m certain their cat, Sadie, was not as appreciative of ...

March 5 - 16, 2021 During our visit to Tallahassee, we camped at Coe Landing County Park, located 15 miles outside of town.  It is located on Lake Talquin.  We hung out at the campground quite a bit.  We had a beautiful, waterside site and enjoyed many sunsets and campfires.  Listening the the alligators "talk" was a new experience!  Frankie was in dire need of a bath and grooming, so that happened for her!  I'm getting more and more confident of being able to groom her myself.  Maybe it's time I try cutting Dick's hair again!  Convincing Dick could be another story.  The first (and last!) time I cut his hair, he ended up with a complete buzz! Coe Landing site 15 Home Sweet Home Lake Talquin Pictures just don't capture the beauty! Dick's next ... JK! We have been trying to figure out how we our going to be able to get the COVID vaccine while we are traveling full time.  Well, Tallahassee answered that prayer!  We had heard...
