Gone With the Wind!

April 3 – 10, 2023 During our drive to Little Rock, we stopped at a rest area that happened to also be a welcome center, fully equipped with brochures and information regarding all things Arkansas!  The gal behind the desk started pulling out all kinds of information concerning the Little Rock area, including a brochure of the Old Mill .  This picturesque park is famous for its appearance in the opening scenes from “Gone with the Wind”.  It’s been so long since I’ve seen that movie!  Now, I need to add that to my list of films to watch.                         Locally, the Old Mill appears to be famous for being the go-to location for taking photos.  It’s easy to understand the attraction as both pink and white dogwoods, azaleas, tulips and other flowers were in full bloom.  During our short time there, we saw numerous prom couples, along with their mothers, snapping pictures!  The trend seem...

Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler!   March 27 – April 3, 2023 Natchitoches, LA is an endearing community.  We saw several signs in the area restaurants and gift shops saying “laissez les bon temps rouler” and we have to agree – good times do roll here!  Their French connection goes back to when France founded Natchitoches in 1714.  Resurrection ferns, rather than Spanish moss, line the branches of live oak trees in this area!  During our week in the area, we were told several different definitions of the word creole, one of them being if you are a descendant of someone born in colonial Louisiana.  Another definition was if you have any French ancestors combined with either Spanish, Native American, or African. Yet another being any combination of French, Spanish, Native American, or African.   Another being…. well, you get the idea.  Everyone seemed to have their own idea of what creole is.  I can tell you it not only describes a person,...

Cajun Country!

March 20 – 27, 2023 Enjoying a bourbon on Bourbon Street! We finally got our Louisiana sticker put on the map!  Louisiana is the 45th state we've stayed in during this trip.  During our time in Cajun country, we also celebrated our third anniversary of being on this adventure!  The time has certainly flown by.  At the same time, it seems so long ago that we were sorting through the house and getting ready to put it on the market!  Meanwhile, RV living is wonderful and we continue to look forward to each of our upcoming spots to explore! “Home is where we park it”, is a common theme among our fellow campers, so by that definition, Lakeside RV Resort in Livingston, LA was our home for the week.  Sites were a little tight and their picnic tables were the tiniest tables I’ve seem! Aside from that, this has got to be one of the best thought-out RV campgrounds we have been to.   Our site backed up to the small lake occupied by turtles, fish, ducks, coo...
