Casper, Wyoming!

Image
June 22 - 24, 2020 Our goal is to get to Sioux Falls to establish domicile; however, as we are not in a huge hurry to get there, we thought we might as well explore a bit of Wyoming along the way!  With that in mind, we decided to spend the next few nights in Casper.  We stayed at Rivers Edge RV Park , which is located right on the banks of the North Platte River. We had two full days to get familiar with the Casper area, so we decided to spend one day in town and the other on Casper Mountain.  On our first day, we walked the self-guided historic tour around downtown.  We picked up a Huckleberry shake from a cafe that occupies part of the former Rialto Theatre building and enjoyed it with the sack lunch we had packed.  We had Frankie with us and she had a ton of energy.  So after lunch, we headed out to hike a stretch of the urban trails.  This was a lovely trail that goes for miles and miles right along the river.  You would hardly know...

Utah 2020 -- Petersons Unite!

Image
June 7 - 21, 2020 We spent the last two weeks cheating a bit on this full time RV living as we were in Utah and stayed with our son, Brandon and his family.  We were able to park our RV on the street in front of their home, which made it nice if we needed anything from it.  For example, when I was making Eva's cake for her 8th birthday and we ran out of powdered sugar for the icing, all I had to do was "make a quick trip home for it"!   Kubb! Back yard activities were a hit with all of us!  We got to play on the new playground Brandon built for the kids (no, my hips didn't fit down the slide!), pick tart cherries, play Goodminton (a nice twist on Badminton), croquet,  Kubb (a Swedish yard game)...  Indoors, we played board games.  Sad that I can no longer beat Josh (age 10) in chess!  He crushed me every time!   COVID Swimming! Brandon's family is part of a neighborhood pool and, although playtime is not allowed (dang COV...

Return to Iowa (temporarily)!

May 31-June 5, 2020 Prior Lake was a fantastic place to establish ourselves as “full timers” in our fifth wheel, but our intentions were to travel, so we decided it was time to leave Prior Lake. It’s been so wonderful having Lauren and Adam close to us. I’m going to miss being able to see Emma and Eli frequently. Before heading off to new territory, we wanted to spend some quality time with Maggie and Luke. We camped at Jester County Park near Granger, Iowa. We arrived to find another camper set up in our site. They hadn’t realized that it was reserved (never mind the neon orange “reserved” post on the site)!  It didn’t take them long to pull things together and move to another spot. We stayed in site 117.  It offered 50 amp electricity as the only service, so we filled our water tank on the way into the campsite.  It was a lovely site at the end of the loop.  It was fairly secluded with the woods to the west and north sides of the site.  The woods blo...

Full Time RV Living Begins!

Image
March 25 - May 30, 2020 Last October, Dick and I decided we were going to finally act on our dream of living full time in our RV and traveling to see this great nation.  We plan to spend a few years traveling before eventually settling down once again into a more conventional lifestyle. We spent the winter sorting through all of our "stuff" and finding new homes for most of it! Our adventure began March 27, 2020 as we closed on our "Sticks and Bricks" home and moved into our 31' fifth wheel.  We intended to stay a week at Dakotah Meadows RV Park at Mystic Lake Casino (the only campground open in Minnesota that we could find!).  Ironically, March 27th was also the day the Minnesota Governor issued a "stay at home" order due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  What we thought would be a one-week stay turned into two months!  During our stay here, we took advantage of the time by organizing the RV for living full time in it.  Amazon shopping became very ...
